The Garden Re-Leaf Charity Walk returns to West Yorkshire

Greenfingers15/02/2024

Look out for some greenfingered walkers on March 15th as a special charity fundraising walk comes to Holmbridge.

March 15th is Garden Re-Leaf Day. This special annual fundraising day is the work of the Greenfingers Charity who create magical and therapeutic garden spaces at children’s hospices across the country. With almost 70 gardens completed since the launch of Greenfingers 24 years ago and a long list of hospices waiting in the wings, Garden Re-Leaf Day plays a pivotal role in raising vital funds for this charity.

Considered one of the key events in the Garden Re-Leaf roster, the Charity Walk sees supporters new and old don their walking boots as they complete the 12-mile circular route through the untouched natural beauty of West Yorkshire, also known as ‘Last of the Summer’ country. Passing by moorlands, riverside paths, pretty villages and reservoirs, this walk rewards walkers with its start and end point being at The Pickled Pheasant in Holmbridge so expect to see plenty of weary walkers there late in the afternoon on March 15th

Join the walk!

Launched just last year, the North Walk – a similar walk takes place simultaneously in Hertfordshire – is fast becoming the must-attend event. As the chosen charity of the garden retail sector, the walk sees many suppliers from the local area – and far afield – come together to raise as much money as possible. That said, the event is open to anyone wanting to support the charity, including local residents and businesses in the area.

For those unable to participate in the walk, there are plenty of ways to support. You can sponsor the walkers, donate refreshments along the route or sponsor the event in return for recognition on the charity’s website and social media channels.

Linda Petrons, Director of Fundraising & Communications at the Greenfingers Charity, said: “The Garden Re-Leaf Day Charity Walk is such a superb day and we’re so grateful to the people of Holmbridge and the surrounding areas for their incredible hospitality last year. We’re excited to be back and hope that we might welcome some new walkers and supporters of the event this March. We’ve so many ways to get involved so do invite interested parties to get in touch to find out more.”
