June 23rd 2024 will forever be known as the day when the great and good from the garden retail sector fought bravely to be crowned the newest Dragon Boat Race winners – or at least we hope so! 

Back after a 10-year hiatus, the Greenfingers Charity Dragon Boat Race is already creating a buzz as teams from across the industry get ready to prove they have what it takes to reign supreme on the water. 

Dragon Boat Racing: how does it work? 

The Greenfingers Charity Dragon Boat Race has space for 120 competitors, equalling 10 teams with 10 rowers, a drummer and a steersperson in each boat. Teams can be made up of one company for the perfect team building session or can be made up of several smaller teams in the ultimate display of cooperation on the hop. The day will feature the initial heats before the semi-final and latterly the final where two teams will battle it out head-to-head. 

Where & when? 

Linda Petrons, Director of Fundraising and Communications at the Greenfingers Charity, said: “Our Dragon Boat Race is all about friendly competition, a fun day with colleagues, friends and family and raising funds to help us continue to build even more gardens. The races will no doubt be competitive and physically exhausting, but I’m sure that with the cheers of those onshore, rowers will exceed all their expectations. Outside the races, we hope that our guests will stay to enjoy the day. Bring a picnic, bring the family, bring the deckchairs, and enjoy a wonderful day together in the beautiful Northamptonshire countryside.”
